Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse
Whether it’s the Cleveland Browns of the NFL or the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA, Clevelanders love their sports. According to the Bleacher Report and Wallet Hub, Cleveland is one of the top cities for sports fans in the United States, ranking 18th and 20th spot respectively, not bad for a midsize midwestern city. When it comes to indoor sporting venues, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse is a top-rated place. Located at 1 Center Court, Cleveland, Ohio 22115, its downtown address situates it near other entertainment highlights in the city: the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, FirstEnergy Stadium, and The Children’s Museum of Cleveland. First opened in 1994 as the Gund Arena and then the Quicken Loans Arena, the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse was made to hold the large crowds who came to know and love Cleveland sports. In fact, it replaced the old Cleveland area, built in 1937, that could only hold 12,000 people. By the late- ‘80s, Clevelanders wanted new downtown sports facilities to cheer on their favorite teams and pull in other national and international performers. Soon thereafter, the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse project took off.
With an adaptable floorplan and large capacity, the venue has been able to bring a variety of live entertainment options to Clevelanders. It can hold crowds of up to 20,056 people. Basketball, ice hockey, arena football, figuring skating, wrestling, concerts, live-action performances, and conventions have all been held within the arena. Recent and upcoming highlights include Disney On Ice, The Lumineers, Monster Jam, NCAA tournaments, Michael Buble, Soulja Boy, Pretty Ricky, Omarion, Ying Yang Twins, JoJo Siwa, Dude Perfect, Cirque du Soleil, Harry Styles, Jenny Lewis, Alan Jackson, and plenty of Cleveland Monsters and Cleveland Cavaliers games.
Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse has had a number of renovations and expansions, upgrading the seats, scoreboards, audio systems, visual systems, locker rooms, signage, security, suites, and more. A number of accessibility features have been added, too, including automatic doors, braille menus and signs, sensory bags, weighted lap pads, sensory rooms, elevators, unisex restrooms, first aid stations, real-time captioning, sound amplification devices, interpreters, and several wheelchair-friendly upgrades to dining tables, bathrooms, water fountains, and beyond.
With all of these upgrades for event-goers, it makes sense why the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse rose 15 spots in Pollstar Magazine’s Top 200 Arenas Worldwide of 2019. If you are in the Cleveland area, check out the newly renovated Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse the next time your favorite team, musician, or performer stops by. For ticket availability, view below.
