Deon Cole
Deon Cole is a stand-up comedian, screenwriter, and actor. His performance in the sitcom titled Black-ish earned him fame and recognition that fetched him nominations for the SAG Awards and NAACP Image Awards. The show ran on ABC from 2014 to 2022.
He is the second panelist to have received the Dorris Award in 2020 on the ABC version of, To Tell the Truth. Cole has received nominations for The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien and Conan, both of which he co-wrote. Conan also got Deon Cole nominated for three Writers Guild of America Awards.
Although not much is known about his wife or personal life in general, he has a son named Delon, who is a teenager, as per reports.
Career and Accomplishments
Born on 9th January 1972, Cole grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Philander Smith College with a degree in acting. A $50 bet with a friend led to him initiating his career in the field of comedy.
In addition to writing for the aforementioned late-night talk shows, he has also performed in both the shows. Cole also made an appearance on Conan O'Brien's Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour in the year 2010.
In February of 2010, Cole put up a comedy act, the proceeds of which went towards the welfare of the victims of the Haiti earthquake that took place the same year. From 2016 to 2018, the comedian was a part of the sitcom, Angie Tribeca.
He has been seen along with a fellow comedian, Gabrielle Dennis, for a TV ad campaign for Old Spice. After having a recurring appearance on Black-ish, he became a more regular and crucial part of the show since the beginning of the fourth season.
Cole was also seen in Grown-ish, a spin-off of Black-ish. His stand-up pieces have been a part of Mash Up, John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show, and Lopez Tonight. Cole has his own production company named Coled Blooded, which produced Deon Cole's Black Box, a sketch comedy program.
The show got canceled on 25th October 2013 after premiering on 10th June 2013. In 2017, he hosted Face Value, which is a game show. He has a comedy set of half an hour featured on The Stand-ups, which is an original series on Netflix.
Netflix also released a stand-up special of Cole’s titled Deon Cole: Cole Hearted in October 2019.
