Franco Escamilla
Franco Escamilla is a comedian, musician, voice artist, businessman, and philanthropist. Born on 29th April 1981 in Cuautla, Morelos, he moved to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, with his mom after the divorce of his parents.
He went on to study music at the Escuela Superior de Música y Danza de Monterrey. He attempted to study criminology but dropped it after three years. Before he began to pursue comedy as a full-time career, he worked at a KFC outlet, as a waiter, and as a chef at a burger joint.
Career and Accomplishments
Escamilla is mainly famous for his entertaining comedy shows. He is the first comedian to have ever performed at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, and Mexico has also witnessed his presence at other important venues, including the Arena Ciudad de México.
He was the first Latin comedian to perform at New York's Carnegie Hall in February 2020, and he also made a presentation at Staples Center along with Gabriel Iglesias, the famous stand-up comedian.
This cemented Escamilla’s name further as one of the major representatives of comedy from Latin America and Mexico. The comedian has four comedy specials on Netflix alone, namely Eavesdropping, Welcome to the World, For the Anecdote, and Comedians of the World.
It was in the year 2016 that Escamilla had his music debut at the Trovafest. He also developed his own music album, which was a collaboration with the singer Edgar Oceransky.
In 2017, he performed at the music festival Pa'l Norte with Los Caligaris, the band from Argentina.
The Franco Escamilla Show was the name of Escamilla’s show on the Estrella TV channel. Those he knew from La Diablo Squad helped him develop La Mesa Reñoña, which contains over 200 editions and is broadcasted on a weekly basis every Monday on YouTube.
The program also has special editions from stars such as John Milton and Gabriel Iglesias. Its YouTube channel does have some memorable videos, including Desde el Cerro de la Silla with Franco Escamilla, Tirando bola, El Príncipe del barrio, Follow me on the trip, and Freestyle para moles.
Escamilla and his crew members have a group known as La Diablo Squad, and together they perform La Mesa Reñoña and numerous other programs. At the moment, the comedian is on his Gaby tour.
