Kevin James Thornton
TikTok Star Kevin James Thornton was born in the United States on November 2, 1973. He is a comedian and performer whose kevinjamesthornton TikTok account went viral and helped him get 1.6 million fans. He uses it to share relatable and often very heartfelt self-reflection. He also uses it to make fun of situations. Between 2009 and 2012, he did three one-person tours across the country.
Career
Kevin James Thornton has learned something new from making movies, hosting a podcast, playing in a band, going on stand-up comedy tours across the country, owning a photography studio, and writing songs. He has kept track of what makes him happy for the past ten years. He found that his busy schedule needed to make him more comfortable.
James's tour takes him away from home for a few days. On October 1, at 8 p.m., he performed a 90-minute one-person show at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater.
He was written about in "The Huffington Post," "The Advocate," "The New Yorker," "Cosmopolitan," and NPR's "All Things Considered" also talked about him.
Thornton had time to try new ideas during the coronavirus pandemic, as did many others. He tried to post some short videos on TikTok. In six months, 250 million people have watched his videos, and just under 1 million followed him.
He did stand-up comedy and stories with an LGBTQ theme for five years as part of the Fringe Festival circuit. He also has a podcast on Apple called "American Queer," where he talks about being gay and growing up as a fundamentalist Christian who comes out. The podcast's music comes from Indiana Queen.
He was raised in an Evangelical church in Evansville, Indiana, and it was hard for him to be gay. Many of his jokes and more serious songs healthily show these memories.
Kevin James Thornton has had a long journey. After almost a decade of touring, his band signed one of the last big record deals of the 2000s. iTunes and Napster were changing the music business when his record deal fell apart, "Behind the Music" style. He didn't know what to do next, so he went to Los Angeles to do stand-up comedy. He won the New Faces competition at The Comedy Store and returned on the road, but this time as a comedian. He now mixes comedy, stories, and music in his live shows. He lives in Nashville with his three cats and his partner.
