Paul Mecurio
Paul Mecurio is a stand-up comedian, writer, and actor. Born and brought up in Providence, Rhode Island, he went to Providence College and completed his graduation from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C.
He initially worked at Willkie Farr & Gallagher as a mergers and acquisitions lawyer. It was during this time at Wall Street he went to comedian Jay Leno's private stand-up comedy show.
Since Mecurio had always been interested in comedy, he had jotted down a couple of jokes. He went over to Leno with 15 pages of written material, hoping that he would use them for television.
Leno loved Mecurio's material so much that he contacted him and wanted more, eventually paying $50 for his joke and using it in his show. Mecurio took up stand-up comedy and even left his job to focus on it more.
However, personal tragedies struck, and he found himself frustrated, swearing off comedy and returning to investment banking. After a couple of months, though, he returned to comedy.
