Grand Ole Opry House
QUICK FILTER: Shows Today | Shows Tonight | Shows This Weekend
The Grand Ole Opry House is recognized on just about every list of the top venues in Tennessee, an incredible feat, given that there is estimated to be over 200 venues in Nashville alone which host Nashville concerts. The competition is fierce, but audiences just find the place an alluring, glamorous blend of rustic country and shiny new names in the business.
One of the things that makes this venue special is that it hosts an American country music stage concert every week. The Grand Ole Opry has done this since its opening way back in 1925. It is the longest running audio broadcast in United States history. The Grand Ole Opry House itself is a newer addition, opened in 1974, after the success of the radio broadcasts. The Grand Ole Opry markets itself as “The past, present, and future all on one stage.” Anyone who likes country will fit in with the history and spirit of the Grand Ole Opry House. For other fantastic shows and events, check out the Ryman Auditorium schedule, the Bridgestone Arena schedule, another nearby Nashville arena or explore other things to do in Nashville.
The Grand Ole Opry hosts all sorts of audiences. It seats 4,372 people for the Opry shows (View Grand Ole Opry Seating Chart), but alternate events may hold a little more or a little less depending on the event set-up. It is known for being a familiar, comfortable venue, kicked up a few notches. In fact, they describe the seating as “cushioned pew seating, like that found in many churches.” It is a family-friendly space for many of the performances and tours, though late-night excursions can run to 1:00 a.m. Have any questions about the Opry? Upcoming performances include High Valley & Brad Upton, Sam Williams, Dusty Slay, Mark Wills, Ricky Skaggs, and Jimmie Allen. Be warned that tickets are sold exceptionally quick—don’t wait around if you see them available. Most tourists buy them months in advance. That said, it is worth the wait and the planning to be part of a live-viewed, live broadcasted event that is a real relic of the American past. Until you can get your tickets in-hand, give their radio station a listen. It will provide a good taste of what to expect in person. 650 AM/WSM plays around the clock. They even have a mobile app.
